'He's off': Pundit says Man City will definitely sign 26-year-old technician in the summer if they offer £80m

Darren Bent has already predicted a potential summer signing Manchester City could make.

With City being in the Premier League title fight and the race for glory heating up, perhaps now is not the best time to look ahead to next season in any capacity.

Pep Guardiola’s men will also face Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals as well in what is the standout tie of the round by some distance.

In the FA Cup, the treble-winners are set to lock horns with Chelsea in the semi-final and as a result, they will be hoping that their current group of players get them over the line in all three competitions.

Darren Bent predicts Lucas Paqueta to sign for Manchester City in the summer

However, Darren Bent is confident that if Manchester City stump up an offer of £80 million, they will seal a deal to sign Lucas Paqueta in the summer.

“Won’t be there. He’ll be at a Champions League team next season. West Ham could be in the Champions League next season. But Man City will be in the Champions League and if they offer £80million, he’s off”, he said on talkSPORT.

Last week, Fabrizio Romano claimed that both City and West Ham United will discuss a potential transfer involving the Brazilian international in the summer.

£80 million would be a fair fee for Lucas Paqueta

If Darren Bent is proven correct and Manchester City could sign Lucas Paqueta for £80 million, that would be a fair deal.

The fee would be massive but a player of Paqueta’s calibre demands such a huge sum, also considering how important he is for West Ham.

In our view, the former Lyon midfielder is right up there with some of the best players in the Premier League and with three years left on his deal at the London Stadium, £80 million represents a fair value for his potential exit.

One will have to wait and watch if the Hammers would demand an even bigger fee to let Paqueta sign for City if indeed they decide to try signing him in the summer.
