VCT Masters Madrid breaks Valorant viewership records

VCT Masters Madrid is officially the most-watched Valorant tournament in history.

VCT Masters Madrid is the first major of the current Valorant season, bringing the top teams in the world together for intense matchups. This all culminated in a Grand Final match between Sentinels and Gen.G, which had over 1.6 million peak viewers.

VCT Masters Madrid beats Valorant viewership records

According to Esports Charts, Masters Madrid’s Grand Final had 1.68 million peak viewers. This was far and away the most-watched match of the tournament — and in Valorant history.

This came as no surprise to Valorant fans, since most of the popular players were taking part in the Grand Final. This includes Sentinel’s Tyson “TenZ” Ngo, who has become the face of competitive Valorant over the years.

But the other matches were far from ignored. Valorant fans also tuned in by the millions to other showstoppers — most of which had Sentinels playing, of course. Here are the most-watched matches at Masters Madrid:

  • LOUD vs. Sentinels – Playoffs Day 1 – 1.1 million
  • Sentinels vs. PRX – Playoffs, LB Finals – 1 million
  • Sentinels vs. Gen.G – Playofs, Day 2 – 991,000
  • Sentinels vs. KCorp – Swiss Stage, Day 3 – 883,000

Valorant viewership history

Valorant Masters Madrid is the most-viewed Valorant major in history but it’s not the only tournament to have fans tuning in. Masters Reykjavik 2021 and 2022 also had more than 1 million peak viewers. Unsurprisingly, the most-watched match during Masters Reykjavik 2021 was Sentinels in the Grand Finals, when the popular team took down Fnatic.

No other Masters events broke the 1 million mark, however. Valorant Masters Madrid even beat big tournaments like the Valorant Champions 2021, 2022, and 2023. 2022 was the closest, with a peak viewership of 1.5 million.

It seems like Valorant fans just can’t get enough of the Sentinels, especially with the team coming back stronger this season. Many co-streamers also provided commentary on the Sentinels’ journey, adding to the amount of fans tuning in to the action.

Who is on the Sentinels Valorant roster?

The Sentinels is a Los Angeles-based esports organization that has Valorant, Halo, Apex Legends teams, and more. Their current Valorant roster includes:

  • Zachary “zekken” Patrone
  • Gustavo Henrique “Sacy” Rossi da Silva
  • Tyson “TenZ” Ngo
  • Mohamed “johnqt” Ouarid
  • Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro
  • Rahul “curry” Nemani
