‘Carnage’: Simon Jordan explains why 777 Partners’ Everton takeover has gone on for so long

Everton’s terrible ownership has been well-documented, with Jamie Carragher one of the media personalities at the forefront of lambasting Farhad Moshiri.

Since taking over the club in 2016, he has taken what was a sleeping giant with a stable foundation for future success and forced them backwards.

Over a decade’s work by David Moyes had ensured the Toffees were financially sound and ready to take the next step into where many felt they belonged.

However, if anything, they have regressed.

Moshiri is the subject of much scrutiny, with today marking no change to that pattern.

Simon Jordan takes aim at Farhad Moshiri’s Everton ownership

Speaking live on talkSPORT earlier today (26/03, 11:40 am), Simon Jordan was left somewhat perturbed by Moshiri and his truly poisonous tenure on Merseyside.

As a former owner himself, he has never held back in offering a damning assessment to somebody screwing the job up. As such, the Iranian billionaire has often been a topic of conversation.

His latest comments read: ‘No doubt in my mind, I’ve got no dog in the fight, I like Everton as a football club, I’ve always admired them as a football club. I’ve got decent relationships with them. I was very fond of Bill Kenwright. I enjoyed it when Palace went up there when I was involved playing Everton. I look back on it with a great deal of affection.

‘But there’s no doubt that what’s been done to that football club under Moshiri’s ownership is pretty poor. To have spent that kind of money, and you’ve got to say well fair enough the money was spent, but my word the players that have gone through there that have been sold for top money.

‘Like Lukaku… what have they done with it? They’ve put themselves into the way of being the poster boy of sanctions.’

Farhad Moshiri is the man to blame for Everton’s deductions

Although not solely to blame for Everton’s PSR problems, the buck has to stop with someone.

And as the figure funnelling in the fortune that has been spent, which has subsequently resulted in their deduction, there are few other places to look for blame.

His tenure as owner of the Toffees has been tough, littered with costly errors. A foolish and aimless transfer strategy, coupled with the frequent changing of managers, has only contributed to the issue.

That is the most frustrating thing, though.

Everton have not found themselves in this position through bad luck. They, and Moshiri, only have themselves to blame for years of recklessness which has culminated in this horrid campaign.
