Scott McTominay praises Man Utd star who has ‘barely missed a minute,’ he shares private advice he offered him

Scott McTominay has dropped big praise on one of his Manchester United teammates after claiming that he has “barely missed a minute” and raved about his potential

The 27-year-old Manchester United midfielder has been in stunning goalscoring form this season, despite fighting for a regular place in the starting XI.

Scott McTominay has scored an impressive seven times in 25 Premier League appearances, with the United star making 14 league starts under Erik ten Hag.

The Scottish midfielder was heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford last summer and United even rejected a £30m bid from Premier League side West Ham.

However, McTominay remained at United for the current Premier League campaign and has remained an important first-team player under manager Erik ten Hag.

The United star’s impressive goalscoring form for club has also translated to his time on the international stage with Scotland in 2023.

McTominay scored seven times in Scotland’s Euro 2024 qualifying campaign in 2023, with Steve Clarke’s men punching their ticket to the tournament this summer.

McTominay praises Man Utd star

Speaking during the March international break, Scott McTominay has praised the impact of Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo this season.

Mainoo has had a breakout season at Old Trafford under Erik ten Hag and the United star has been praised since his emergence in the Red Devils’ first team.

The 18-year-old midfielder earned his senior England call-up under Gareth Southgate and made his debut in the 1-0 friendly defeat against Brazil.

Following Mainoo’s impressive second-half cameo against Brazil at Wembley, McTominay has admitted that he is thrilled by his United teammate’s success.

“Amazing, so happy, he deserves the England call-up,” McTominay said, as per the Manchester Evening News.

“He’s been so good for 24 to 25 [games] now [for Man United], he’s barely missed a minute.

“It just shows when you’ve got full confidence in younger players, they’ve got the confidence to go and do exceptional things.”

McTominay’s advice to Man Utd teammate Mainoo

Mainoo came through the United youth academy alongside Alejandro Garnacho and the pair have firmly established themselves in the starting XI this season.

McTominay, who also came through United’s academy, revealed that he has spoken to Mainoo and provided invaluable advice to the Red Devils’ teenage sensation.

“I’ve [spoken] to Kobbie a good couple of times and said just keep your head down and concentrate on yourself and keep pushing and keep doing what you’re doing,” he said.

“There’s no reason to stop, the sky is the limit in terms of the potential, Alejandro Garnacho as well.

“Just as long as they’ve got the right head on their shoulders, don’t get too carried away, they can do amazing things. I’m really pleased for him.”
