Report: Tottenham 26-year-old will be 'leaving', Spurs confident they can get 'good money' for him

Ange Postecoglou has already signed two centre-backs since taking over as Tottenham boss, bringing in both Radu Dragusin and Micky van de Ven – ending any hope of a revival for Joe Rodon at Spurs.

The 26-year-old left Spurs on loan last summer and joined Leeds United, where he has been immense. After three years in the wilderness, Wales star Rodon is finally turning potential into proven quality.

Arguably in the form of his life, Rodon is playing a crucial part in Leeds’ push for an instant return to the Premier League. He has already hinted that he would like to play for Leeds in the Premier League.

Leeds of course, will be keen to do a deal – and a fee between £10m and £15m is expected for the former Swansea and Rennes centre-back. Rodon is about to enter the final 12 months of his Spurs contract.

Alasdair Gold: Joe Rodon will definitely be ‘leaving’ Tottenham

Indeed, Rodon can hardly put a foot wrong at the minute at Elland Road. With promotion looking more and more likely for Daniel Farke’s side, the Whites will be desperate to keep him. That looks a possibility.

Alasdair Gold has written in a long-winded piece on Football London that categorically, Rodon will be ‘leaving’ in the summer. But, Gold claims that is not necessarily to Leeds, even if they are promoted.

He claims that Leeds could come to regret not including a permanent clause in the loan deal they orchestrated for the centre-back last summer. The hope is that a bit of an ‘auction’ could take place.

Spurs are hopeful that his form at Leeds will bring in ‘some good money’ for Rodon – who has always starred for Wales at international level, but failed to transpire that level of performance to club level.

Leeds would be foolish not to get a deal done for Rodon

Rodon looks incredibly happy, playing alongside three Wales teammates at Leeds. Connor Roberts is on loan from Burnley at Elland Road. Ethan Ampadu and Dan James are at the Yorkshire club permanently.

It might require promotion for Leeds to be able to afford a move for Rodon beyond his loan. Indeed, Rodon will want to test himself in the Premier League again after three difficult years at Spurs and Rennes.

With Rodon keen on Leeds, Leeds keen on Rodon and Spurs ready to sell – you would imagine Rodon will remain at Elland Road ands sign on the dotted line. But the determining factor could be promotion.

One to keep an eye on, if whatever reason Leeds cannot afford or do a deal for the centre-back. Premier League clubs are more than likely to be keeping a note of Rodon’s form in the Championship.
