Newcastle lose yet another key star for West Ham after injury on int'l duty

West Ham may not get a better chance to beat to Newcastle United this weekend after more bad news for Eddie Howe ahead of the clash.

Newcastle welcome West Ham to St James’s Park in the Premier League this weekend.

Seventh placed West Ham go into the game four points and three places above Newcastle.

That position will be good enough for West Ham to secure a fourth consecutive European qualification after Liverpool won the Carabao Cup.

Howe will Newcastle put a team out?

But the Magpies have a game in hand on the Hammers.

So Eddie Howe’s side will be determined to try and close that gap on West Ham in the race for a European spot.

We reported on Monday that Newcastle are facing a genuine injury crisis for the crunch Euro six-pointer with West Ham.

At least five of Howe’s key players will miss the game with three more serious doubts.

Miley adds to Newcastle injury crisis for West Ham

Well now Newcastle have lost yet another key star for the West Ham clash after an injury on international duty.

Brilliant young midfielder Lewis Miley has risen to prominence for the Geordies this season.

The 17-year-old has been a breath of fresh air at St James’ Park.

But Telegraph reporter Luke Edwards has claimed Miley has suffered an injury on England youth international duty.

And Edwards says Miley will be out for six weeks – missing the West Ham clash and much of the rest of the season.

The Hammers have a pretty dismal record against Newcastle in the last five years.

West Ham have won just once in the last nine Premier League meetings since 2019.

The Irons have lost four of those clashes.

A win for West Ham would put a sizeable gap between the two clubs for the run-in.

The glut of injuries to top players certainly gives David Moyes a helping hand of redressing the balance.
