A Mexican sculptor recently expressed his dislike of Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO Elon Musk with a unique art demonstration.

What Happened: Chavis Marmol, 42, recently dropped a nine-ton stone inspired by the Olmec civilization onto a blue Tesla Model 3 — the company’s bestseller.

Marmoul, who never owned a car and prefers using a bicycle to get around, captured the event on video and displayed the demolished Tesla 3 in a lot owned by boutique hotel Colima 71 in Mexico City.

"Look what I do to your lousy car with this wonderful head. This is bigger than you and the rampant technologies," Marmol told French news outlet AFP when speaking about Musk.

Marmol said his idea "was to make a piece to troll Elon Musk." The sculptor said it would be "incredible" if Musk saw the video and art piece.

The sculptor credits the hotel's artistic director for having the idea. The duo were able to get a used Tesla Model 3 with help from an anonymous donor.

Marmol said it didn't bother him seeing a $40,000 vehicle destroyed. After all, it wasn't his money.

"It's the wonderful thing about art,” he said. “It allows you these atrocities."

Why It's Important: The art demonstration comes as Tesla is set to begin construction on a new gigafactory in Mexico.

Marmol referenced the factory in some of his comments with the AFP, but did not say if this was the leading reason why he did the demonstration.

Observers took note of the significance and symbolism of Marmol’s using the Indigenous Olmec head, underscoring the cultural roots of his native Mexico.

The art piece serves as a scathing critique of billionaire Musk and society's need for the latest “product of a capitalist system,” Marmol says.

TSLA Price Action: Tesla shares trade at $178.91 on Tuesday versus a 52-week trading range of $152.37 to $299.29.
