Affordable MacBook deal costs just 70p a day, and it's all thanks to an unlikely partnership with Sky TV

One of the most eye-catching new MacBook deals comes from a very unlikely place. While Sky TV might be best known for its premium satellite television channels, live sports coverage, and blockbuster series like Game of Thrones, Succession, The White Lotus, and Euphoria ...it turns out the British broadcaster is offering an affordable way to own one of the latest MacBook Air models.

This lightweight laptop is currently available for just £22 per month) — that's less than 73p per day.

That's £3 cheaper than the previous monthly cost from Sky. It dropped the price following the announcement of the newer M3 variant earlier this month. As well as a brand-new MacBook Air, you'll also be sent a SIM with a 100MB mobile data allowance each month. Since there's no SIM card slot in the MacBook, this can be used with a tablet, mobile internet dongle, or a smartphone to hotspot when you're away from a Wi-Fi connection.

Sky bundles unlimited calls and texts with all of its SIM cards, so you'll be able to make calls and send texts to UK landlines and mobiles without paying any extra. If 100MB of 5G mobile data isn't quite enough for you, Sky also offers 5GB for £8, 25GB for £12, or 50GB for £14 per month.

There are a few things to note about this MacBook Air deal) — first of all, it's only available with the Midnight colour option. Head to the Apple Store, and you'll find a choice of four different colourways for the M2-powered MacBook Air, including Starlight, Space Grey, Silver, and Midnight.

Next up, there's a one-off £2 charge at the start of your contract, so you'll need to pay £24 for the first month) before it drops down to the standard Direct Debit of £22 per month.

It's also worth noting this is a 48-month contract, so you'll be paying for this Apple laptop for longer than payment plans available on the Apple Store, which lets you spread payments over 12, 24 or 36 months at up to 14.9% APR.

If you've got your eye on something new before the end of your contract, Sky will let you upgrade to a new model after 36-months, although that will kickstart a new 48-month contract.

Lastly, the total price over the four-year contract from Sky TV (with the £2 upfront fee) is £1,058.

For comparison, Apple charges £999 for the same M2 MacBook Air when bought outright from its store. You can also find the M2 model — although not always in the full selection of colours — for even cheaper from other stores:

Of course, it's worth noting that these prices will change if you decide to spread out repayments to find a monthly cost that's comparable to the latest deal from Sky TV.

MacBook Air M2 launched in the 2022 and introduced a radical redesign to the most popular laptop in Apple's arsenal. It ditched the trademark wedge-shaped design that had been present on the MacBook Air since its introduction, opting for a uniform 0.44-inch (1.13cm) thickness.

The bezels around the screen were dramatically reduced — allowing Apple to squeeze a larger 13.6-inch screen into the same footprint as the previous 13.3-inch model. That screen is an LCD panel with a resolution of 224-pixels-per-inch.

The refreshed MacBook Air design arrived with 2x Thunderbolt USB-C 4 ports, a 3.5mm headphone port, and the return of the MagSafe charger, which snaps to the body of the laptop using magnets so that it can safely detach if someone trips over your charging cable without sending your shiny new MacBook flying across the room!

Apple fitted its M2-powered MacBook Air with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of solid-state storage. There's also a 1080p HD webcam for video calls and a four-speaker sound system with enough oomph to support Spatial Audio when playing music and Dolby Atmos when watching a TV series or movie. It ships with the latest version of macOS, which offers free access to a range of productivity apps from Apple, including Pages, Keynote, Numbers, Garageband, Freeform, and QuickTime.

A slew of apps that will be instantly familiar to anyone with an iPhone or iPad, including Voice Memo, FaceTime, Stocks, Apple News, Podcasts, and Notes, to name a few, will also be preinstalled on the MacBook Air when you lift the lid for the first time.
