Rod Stewart leaves fans in disbelief as they spot distracting feature in rare snap with sons: 'Spitting image!'

Legendary rocker Sir Rod Stewart has left his fans gob-smacked after sharing an update alongside his three youngest sons.

The Maggie May singer took to Instagram on Tuesday night to celebrate his son Liam's, 29, ice hockey triumph with his team MK Lightning.

The Milton Keynes-based ice hockey team was crowned National Cup champions on Tuesday night and Stewart was in attendance to cheer his son on.

The 79-year-old wasn't cheering solo, however, as sons Alastair, 18, and Aiden, 13, also joined him to support their brother's team.

Celebrating MK Lightning's triumph, Stewart and his three boys stopped for a selfie rink side.

Stewart shared the snap with his 1.4 million Instagram followers as he gushed in the accompanying caption: "Proud as a Father could possibly be [love heart emoji] congratulations @mklightningihc @discostew94."

But while several of his fans flocked to the comments to applaud the 29-year-old's achievement on the ice, others couldn't help but comment on the likeness Stewart shared with his youngest son.

"Wow your youngest looks just like you!!!" one shocked fan replied, which prompted others to respond with the words "spitting image" and: "I agree."

And the comments didn't stop there as a large number of others also took to the comments to draw the same comparison.

"The youngest boy looks just like you," one fan added with a love heart emoji. "Great picture!"

A second echoed: "Aiden is a spitting image of the man. You wear it well sir!"

"Ur young son looks like a miniature Rodney," another weighed in before a fourth commented: "The youngest son is a clone of Rod!!" (sic)

Away from the rink, Stewart has been celebrating success of his own after rocketing to the top of the charts with his latest album.

Collaborating with Jools Holland, the rocker and his piano-playing pal bagged the number one spot with their record, Swing Fever.

And Stewart celebrated the feat in typical Stewart style, telling BBC News: "I stayed at a [Prince's Trust] event and had continual Martinis until one o'clock in the morning with the three girls in my band.

"It was lovely," the Do Ya Think I'm Sexy? hitmaker added.
