Chelsea fans are saying the same thing after Marc Cucurella’s performance for Spain last night

Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella earned just his second ever senior cap for Spain last night in a dramatic 3-3 draw against Brazil.

Marc Cucurella made his Spain debut back in 2021. However, he’s been exiled from the national squad since then.

The Chelsea left-back was recalled by his country during this March international break for the first time in nearly three years, so we’re a little surprised he played the full 90 minutes yesterday in a friendly versus Brazil.

The two international heavyweights served up a classic 3-3 draw at the Bernabeu.

Cucurella held his own at left-back in a challenging match against a Brazil side buoyed by a recent win over England at Wembley Stadium.

FotMob data gave Cucurella a 6.6 match rating for his individual performance. The Spanish defender completed a very impressive 52/53 passes, plus he won 3/6 ground duels.

There’s speculation that his club career may lie away from Stamford Bridge, but he can still be a top player when he stays focused.

Defensa Central reports this month that Chelsea have spoken with Real Madrid to test the waters to see if they’d like to sign Cucurella or Enzo Fernandez this summer. We’ll be intrigued to see the kind of form the Blues left-back can finish the season in.

Chelsea fans agree on Marc Cucurella

There was a general feeling from Chelsea supporters on social media on Tuesday that Cucurella performed superbly in Spain’s famous red kit.

Blues fans on X were all left super impressed by the 25-year-old full-back’s international display:

One fan wrote: “Cucurella has been great.”

Another said: “Cucurella has been quite good against Brazil. Also Nico Williams seems to enjoy playing with him.”

A third claimed: “Cucurella is balling out, you can’t tell me otherwise that he isn’t not a good player.”

A fourth posted: “Cucurella is balling.”

A fifth shared: “Wow, Cucurella can exactly play football. Poch is the problem.”

Another said: “He is having a good game.”

Finally, one supporter wrote: “Cucurella is unreal.”

Cucurella vs Chilwell

It’s never been a regular occurrence at Chelsea, but their two senior left-backs are set to be fit at the same time.

Ben Chilwell, 27, started both games for England during the international break. Meanwhile, Cucurella’s played and impressed in Spain colours.

So, who will be the starting full-back when the Blues host Burnley this weekend in the league?

Our guess is that vice-captain Chilwell is going to just have the edge over Cucurella, but we don’t see much to split the pair.
