What Phil Foden did just before England's 2-2 draw against Belgium is incredibly heartwarming

Before England drew 2-2 to Belgium on Tuesday, Phil Foden showcased that he is truly a gem of a character.

As is the case with perhaps every player, Foden grabs the headlines for being an exceptional footballer rather than gaining any attention towards his personality.

As Kyle Walker recently told Channel 4 Sport, the 23-year-old is a “shy lad” and as a result, he is barely ever in the news for any off-field activities or for any statements he makes.

It seems like the Stockport-born midfielder eats, sleeps and breathes football, with Joleon Lescott once revealing that he was prohibited from using footballs after training when he used to play for England’s youth teams to ensure he does not pick up injuries.

Phil Foden did something very heartwarming right before England drew to Belgium

As the England team were walking out onto Wembley Stadium to go toe-to-toe with Belgium, Phil Foden was spotted handing his jacket to a young mascot who accompanied him before the contest ensued.

The weather was far from ideal as the rain was heavily pouring down, which meant that both teams had to play in a very cold climate.

Players like Foden are used to playing in such conditions but mascots are not and as a result, he decided to be a gentleman.

Fair play to Phil Foden

Instead of merely focusing on facing Belgium in a much-awaited affair for England, Phil Foden exhibited his human side and looked out for the young girl.

Foden well and truly showed that he has a heart of gold and that even off the pitch, he is an absolute class act.

Younger players and fans who look up to the Manchester City talisman should be inspired by his gesture as it is key to look out for others in such a manner.
