TV star uses one luxury while waiting out sentence in jail to connect with her daughter

Savannah Chrisley has been doing a “Prison Diaries” segment on her Unlocked podcast lately where she shares letters from her parents with her listeners. During March 27’s episode, Savannah explained why she had “a gazillion pieces of magazine paper” with her during her chat about her mom, Julie Chrisley.

As many reality TV lovers will know, the Chrisley parents are currently incarcerated. The family rose to fame on their USA Network show, Chrisley Knows Best. But, now the show has come to a halt. In 2022, Todd Chrisley and his wife, Julie, were sentenced to spend a combined 19 years behind bars.

Savannah explains magazines from Julie Chrisley

During ‘part three’ of the ‘Prison Diaries’, Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley Ep. 76, Savannah was holding a bunch of magazines she’d been sent by her mother from jail.

She said: “Mom gets magazine subscriptions there, that’s about the only thing that she gets that’s worth a damn. But, these are magazines that she’s saved…”

The former reality star flicks through the selection which includes Southern Living, and “all kinds of different cooking magazines.”

Savannah said: “She saves these and she sends them to me and she’ll fold pages in the magazine so I know where to look. Or, if she sees something that she knows I would like she sends it to me, tears out the pages. And, I’m really excited about that because it’s just a way for she and I to connect even though we’re not together.”

Savannah finds connection with her mom

Serving some positive vibes on her podcast this March, Savannah said she’s “realized you don’t have to be in the same room to have a connection.”

She adds: “You could be thousands of miles apart. You can not be able to speak on the phone, there’s other ways you can figure out how to connect with someone. It’s all about being intentional.”

The 26-year-old says her “word of the year” is “intentionality.”

She continues to show some of the recipes her mom has sent her from prison. Savannah added how she’s “definitely going to cook them,” and that she “loves cooking” these days.

Speaking of the hundreds of recipes her mom has sent her, Julie’s daughter adds: “When mom gets home, well, she can cook them with me, hopefully, that’s sooner than later.”
