'Could be chances': Romano says 'agile' 20-year-old Wolves eyed in 2023 could leave his club this summer

Wolves potentially face losing Pedro Neto this summer – and one player who’s reportedly been on their transfer radar may have the chance to leave his club.

Neto has enjoyed a terrific season, scoring three goals and making 11 assists across all competitions.

The Portugal international has often been the difference in games for Wolves and speculation about his future has been rife as a result.

The currently injured star has a whole host of clubs on his tail, with Arsenal perhaps the club who’ve been interested in him the longest.

If he goes, Wolves are going to need a replacement and one man who has been linked with a move to Molineux in recent times is Samuel Iling-Junior of Juventus.

Today, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on his situation…

Iling-Junior joined Juventus from Chelsea’s academy back in 2020, after rejecting an athletic scholarship deal.

The 20-year-old has made 37 appearances for their first-team.

Iling-Junior has very much been a bit-part player this season, with most of his 19 appearances coming as a substitute. The youngster’s current standing in the squad could now see him leave in the summer.

Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on his situation via his Daily Briefing for Caught Offside, and says there is a chance for him to leave. But there is interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

He said: “There could be chances for Samuel Iling-Junior to leave Juventus this summer. It’s not that he doesn’t want to negotiate a new contract, but simply there are no talks ongoing right now.”

“Iling-Junior wants to play on a regular basis, he’s young and he needs to. Juventus will be forced to make a choice – new deal trusting him or make profit in the summer. Spurs were informed about his situation in January but I’m not aware of any development after that, no fresh contacts or talks with Tottenham so far.”

It was reported last summer that Iling-Junior – described as ‘very agile’ by Breaking The Lines – was a player Wolves were showing interest in.

Wolves may look to Iling-Junior this summer

It sounds as though Iling-Junior has reached a significant point at Juventus.

Either the club now offer him more game time, or he leaves. Should Juventus decide to listen to offers then perhaps Wolves will fancy making a move.

Wolves could well lose Neto this summer and if that happens, a young left-footed player with pace and trickery may well be the desire.

Iling-Junior might be someone Gary O’Neil feels he can improve, as he has done with so many others already at Molineux.

The transfer model at Wolves is to buy young players with high potential, develop them and sell them on for hopefully big profit a few years later. Iling-Junior is a player who falls into this category, so we’ll see if he becomes someone of interest again.
