‘On the list’: Arsenal could sign ‘powerful’ player if they can’t get Martin Zubimendi – journalist

Arsenal may well be in the market for a new midfielder this summer.

The Gunners have long been linked with new midfield options with the likes of Douglas Luiz and Martin Zubimendi strongly linked for a little while now.

However, as the summer and January windows proved, getting these deals done won’t be easy.

Luiz is having the time of his life at Aston Villa, while, up to this point, Zubimendi has remained fiercely loyal to Real Sociedad.

So, Arsenal may need to find a Plan B, and according to Steve Kay, speaking on KS1TV, they do have an alternative option in mind.

Arsenal’s alternative to Martin Zubimendi

According to the journalist Manu Kone is someone Arsenal could seriously look at if they don’t sign Zubimendi.

“Yeah Manu Kone is a very good player, he’s from Monchengladbach. He’s a young 22-year-old He’s someone, if, and a lot of people want Zubimendi, if they don’t get him he’s in the same mould, he’s more of a Rodri, he’s big, he’s strong, he’s powerful,” Kay said.

“He’s technically gifted I would say. He’s someone who is on the list, he’s someone Arsenal admire.”

Manu Kone sounds exciting

This is a transfer rumour that we could easily get excited about.

Kone isn’t a player that is all that widely known across Europe, but if Kay is correct with his Rodri comparison, Arsenal could be looking at a potential superstar here.

As we all know, Rodri has been one of the very best players in the Premier League over the past few years, and if Arsenal can sign a player in that mould, they could push on to the next level and become perennial challengers for all of the top honours in football.

This certainly sounds like an exciting transfer rumour, and it’s one we can very much get on board with.
