Lincoln Memorial fire: Emergency services rush to Washington monument after blaze breaks out

A fire has broken out at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC, with a kiosk next to the iconic monument ablaze.

Emergency services have rushed to the scene after the fire broke out.

One person is understood to have sustained "serious injuries" as a result of the flames.

The District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department said on social media that the victim has been flown in a police helicopter to hospital.

It added that the "bulk of fire" had now been put out with hazmat units requested to attend the scene.
