'Fantastic achievement': Wolves man once again proved he is going to the top after receiving international recognition

Wolves starlet has proved his career is back on track after highly impressive achievement on international duty.

Wolves’ squad continues to impress off and on the Molineux pitch. After a sensational campaign to date, many of the starting XI saw their form pay off as they were selected for their countries.

Joao Gomes was one, with the midfielder making his debut for Brazil at Wembley in a 1-0 victory over England. Then, there was Rayan Ait-Nouri who continued his fine form for Algeria on Tuesday.

However, there are also plenty of players away from Molineux who are continuing to get into their international side. One is Dexter Lembikisa who had an absolutely fantastic run in the Jamaican team.

The right-back, who is on loan at Hearts, really put on a performance and this has now been recognised on the international stage.

Just like Europe, North America now has a Nations League. Formed in 2018, this week oversaw the conclusion of the third set of finals so far.

With Lembikisa in the side, Jamaica managed to make it to the semi-finals before being defeated by the USA 3-1. However, in the third-place playoff, Lembikisa stepped up for his country.

The right-back hit a wonderful effort into the top corner just outside the box to give Jamaica a 1-0 win over Panama to secure the Bronze medal. It was Lembikisa’s first goal for his country as he continues to develop.

By the tournament’s end, his performances were recognised with the 20-year-old being named into the Best XI for the CONCACAF National League.

As a result, the full-back received widespread praise for this achievement. On X, one Wolves fan commented that it was ‘awesome’ to see.

After coming through the Wolves academy, Lembikisa has always shown plenty of promise. This saw the right-back make his debut for Wolves last season as a late substitute against Leeds United in the EFL Cup.

It was hoped he could really kick on after this achievement and continue to develop into a top player. Therefore, as a result, he was sent out on loan to Championship side Rotherham.

However, this move couldn’t have gone any worse. Despite a good start for the Millers where he scored in a 2-1 victory over Norwich, things quickly went downhill. Rotherham were basically down by Christmas with Lembikisa as part of their shambolic backline.

As a result, he was sent to Hearts in the new year where he has undoubtedly improved. The 20-year-old scored on his debut against Dundee and has been part of one of the best Hearts sides in years.

After a major hiccup, Lembikisa is back on to be a top full-back in the near future. It remains to be seen what Gary O’Neil plans to do with the youngster next season but there is no reason why he couldn’t be an understudy to Nelson Semedo.

Wolves have always prided themselves on their academy and there is no reason to suggest why the Jamaican international can’t be a first-team player in the coming years.

Hopefully, he continues to progress and finishes his season at Hearts on a high.
