'I've got a sneaking feeling': Chris Sutton shares his title prediction before Manchester City face Arsenal

Chris Sutton has shared his current prediction for the Premier League title race as Manchester City prepare to host Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium this weekend.

The final international break of the season is out of the way. And with that, thoughts amongst many will be turning to the race between Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City – with one point separating the trio right now.

It is Arsenal who lead the way. Remarkably, Mikel Arteta‘s men have not dropped a single point in the Premier League since the turn of the year.

Liverpool meanwhile, appear to be determined to give Jurgen Klopp a fairytale ending at Anfield. And their second-half performance against Manchester City showed that they have the ability to battle with anyone.

City of course, are the ones who have the most experience of getting across the line. Pep Guardiola is looking to become the first manager in Premier League history to win four titles in a row.

Speaking on It’s All Kicking Off, Chris Sutton believes that City could be knocked out of the title race this weekend. However, his money is on the champions right now.

“While you make the point about Arsenal’s record at Manchester City not being that good, why wouldn’t they go there and be bullish? Top of the league, most goals scored, least goals conceded. If you look at their performances from last season, all the stats are saying that they have made progress,” he said.

“And if you look at Manchester City’s stats from last season, they’re not quite at the level.

“Listen, if Arsenal go there and win it, what an opportunity to win the Premier League. I think it will be out of them and Liverpool.

“But I’ve just got a sneaking feeling and this isn’t based on anything other than Manchester City, their ability over the last six, seven seasons, to find a way and go on these incredible runs.

“I actually looked at them briefly this morning. And what’s amazing about Manchester City, in my mind, I think that they’re not quite there yet. In the last 22 games, I think they’ve won something like 19. They’ve won 19 and drawn three. And we’re saying that they’re not at the level.”

All bets are off

There are definitely going to be plenty of twists. The three teams are so close together. And anytime you may be tempted to write one off, they often respond with a massive result.

Interestingly, all three have to play Aston Villa. And all three have to play Tottenham. So there are some unbelievably exciting games ahead for the challengers.

It seems foolish for many of us to make any sort of prediction right now. But you can understand why Chris Sutton has opted for the champions.
