Uzbekistan’s 2M23 trade turnover up10.5% to $9.9bn, trade deficit posted at $2.7bn

Uzbekistan’s 2M23 trade turnover expanded by 10.5% to $9.9bn, with exports up 13.6% y/y to $3.6bn and imports gaining by 8.7% y/y to $6.3bn, according to the country’s official statistics agency.

The trade deficit was thus $2.7bn in the two-month period.

Top trade partner China accounted for $2.1bn of trade turnover, up from $1.3bn in 2M23, while second biggest trade partner Russia accounted for $1.7bn versus $1.4bn.

Trade interactions with Kazakhstan produced a turnover of $699mn, just slightly down from 2M23.

Breaking down the percentages of trade with trade partners in January and February, the statistics agency published the following:

  • China (21.5%)
  • Russia (17.8%)
  • Kazakhstan (5.9%)
  • Turkey (4.4%)
  • South Korea (3.7%)
