Michael Dawson played with some truly fantastic footballers during his time at Tottenham.
Ledley King, Dimitar Berbatov and Gareth Bale were but a few players who Dawson was lucky enough to call teammates at Spurs.
A lot of the great players Dawson played with could possibly be categorised in that ‘underrated’ category of player.
In fact, speaking on the Off The Shelf Podcast, Dawson has now named one of his former Spurs teammates as the most underrated player to ever play for Tottenham.

Speaking on the podcast, Dawson and Matt Wells spoke about Michael Carrick, and Dawson claimed that he’s the most underrated player to ever play for Spurs.
“Favourite Spurs player you’ve ever played with?” Wells was asked.
“I would say Michael Carrick,” Wells said.
“What a player, what a player. He’s my most underrated player to ever play for Spurs,” Dawson said.
“I was watching a programme last night with Robbie Keane and Gary Neville and Carrick was on there, and he said the same thing, the most underrated player.”
Was Michael Carrick underrated?
There is of course plenty to like about Michael Carrick as a player, but to call him underrated at Tottenham seems a bit remiss.
Let’s not forget, Carrick was largely seen as Spurs’ best player around this time – hence why he only spent two years at the club before Manchester United signed him for £15m.
In his overall career, Carrick probably was underrated as a player, but during his time at Tottenham he was very much recognised as one of the club’s better players and he more than got the credit he deserved.
We do like Carrick as a player, as do many of his former teammates, but the underrated tag doesn’t quite work in this context in our view.
