Report: Arsenal could sign powerful £14m striker who jumps higher than Cristiano Ronaldo this summer

Arsenal could actually sign a striker who can jump higher than Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.

The Portugal international has obviously become world famous for his immense goalscoring abilities, although he is also undoubtedly one of the greatest athletes ever seen in football.

To be more specific, the 39-year-old’s remarkable leap is something football fans have rarely seen before.

The official website of the Olympics even wrote an article on the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s incredible spring.

Now – however – Arsenal could sign a striker who can actually jump higher than Cristiano Ronaldo

Well, this would be a fascinating signing.

A story from the Mirror suggests that Ajax No.9 Brian Brobbey is an option for Edu this summer, as the Brazilian and Mikel Arteta attempt to bring a new frontman to the Emirates Stadium.

The Netherlands international has impressed this season, despite Ajax suffering a miserable campaign – the Dutch giants are languishing fifth in the Eredivisie, 31 points off the summit.

Brobbey has scored 20 goals in 38 appearances – while also providing eight assists – and could potentially seek an escape from Ajax’s current nightmare.

As aforesaid, Arsenal would be getting themselves a striker with a greater leap than Ronaldo if Edu negotiated an agreement.

It was John Heitinga who made the claim having worked with Brobbey in Ajax’s academy.

As quoted by Marca, the Dutchman said: “At 16 years old he weighed 91 kilos – he was 1.80 meters tall – and he was the fastest in the Academy. He covered 30 meters in 3.7 seconds. With one leg he jumped more than Cristiano Ronaldo.”

Brobbey has even been nicknamed The Brobbey Beast due to his powerful presence up front.

Might be costly

Arsenal have also been linked with some big money moves, such as an £85m deal for Viktor Gyokeres and a £60m swoop for Ivan Toney.

Unfortunately, Brobbey – who Ajax signed back from RB Leipzig for €16.4m (£14m) in July 2022 – would most likely be quite expensive too.

An asking price is yet to arise in the media, although John van ’t Schip – Interim Manager of Ajax – has said it will take “insane amounts of money” to sell the Dutch striker.

Nevertheless, with Ajax set to miss out on UEFA Champions League football this season, Brobbey might seek a move this summer, so be sure to keep an eye on this situation.
