Evan Ferguson says 23-year-old Man City star is one of the best in the world right now

Brighton & Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson has heaped praise on one particular Manchester City player.

The 19-year-old has started 15 of the 26 Premier League games he has appeared in for the Seagulls this season and has found the back of the net six times.

Three of those goals came during Brighton’s 3-1 win over Newcastle United back in September.

Even though the Irishman has not been particularly prolific in front of goal this season, he has taken the time to share his thoughts on some of Europe’s other strikers who know all about scoring goals.

Speaking in a recent video shared on the ESPN UK TikTok channel, Ferguson was asked who he feels are the top three strikers in world football right now.

In response, Ferguson named Erling Haaland first, followed by Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen.

With 269 senior club appearances under his belt throughout his career, Haaland has scored 216 goals, with 81 of those goals coming across 87 games for City.

This highlights how much of a natural goalscorer the Norwegian is and why Ferguson has ranked him alongside Kane and Osimhen as being amongst the best strikers in world football.

During his debut season at the Manchester club, the 23-year-old scored 52 goals in 53 appearances across all competitions, breaking a plethora of records along the way.

Having then helped his side win the Treble, Haaland then came second in the 2023 Ballon d’Or rankings and was named as UEFA’s Best Player in Europe.

This season has seen the centre-forward score 29 goals in 34 games in all competitions, racking up 87 shots at goal in the Premier League, the second-highest in the division.

His overall performances in the league across this campaign so far have earned the City star a season rating of 7.39/10 from WhoScored, making him the sixth-highest-rated player in the Premier League.

Taking all of that into account, it’s easy to see why Ferguson thinks so highly of Haaland and his ability as a striker.
