Pedestrian killed by car in Jersey Shore town

A 60-year-old man was struck and killed by a car while walking in West Long Branch Friday night, officials said.

The victim was hit on the eastbound lanes of Route 36 near Monmouth Road shortly before 8 p.m., the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office said. He was pronounced dead in a nearby hospital.

The driver, a 38-year-old woman, remained on the scene, officials said. She has not been charged or ticketed.
