'Up there with worst ever West Ham signings': Jacob Steinberg posts angry tweet about 1 Hammer

Jacob Steinberg took to his X account this afternoon to criticise one West Ham United player in particular.

West Ham lost 4-3 to Newcastle in the Premier League this afternoon, and Jacob Steinberg made it very clear which player was to blame.

The Hammers led 3-1 before a complete collapse saw us throw all three points away against the Magpies at St James’ Park.

David Moyes received heavy criticism from some sections of West Ham fans for his in-game management today, and rightly so.

It’s so frustrating that we lost that game because we were causing the Toon all sorts of problems. The decision that Moyes made to bring Kalvin Phillips on in place of Michail Antonio backfired badly.

In my opinion, it was the reason why we lost that game.

The Hammers wasted a great chance to really assert ourselves in the race for the top seven by throwing away three points against Newcastle.

Time and time again Moyes instructs his team to sit back and defend when we’re winning games and surprise, surprise, it ends up costing us dearly.

Phillips – a much maligned figure since his loan move to the London Stadium, had an absolutely disastrous afternoon yet again after being subbed on for the Hammers.

Steinberg, a well-known journalist with high-level sources at the London Stadium, took to X today and ripped into Phillips:

I have to say, I think I agree with him.

Phillips has looked painfully off the pace every single time he has taken to the pitch for us this season.

The 28-year-old has already made two errors that have led to goals and he got sent off last month during our defeat to Nottingham Forest as well.

Jacob Steinberg was highly critical of West Ham midfielder Kalvin Phillips and rightly so. It’s starting to look like the worst signing Moyes has made in quite some time.
