"Keep an eye on this boy": Pundit says Crystal Palace have a special 20-year-old "talent" on their hands

Crystal Palace were held to a 1-1 draw by Nottingham Forest on Saturday but despite a disappointing result, there were some real standouts.

Eberechi Eze was in top form as he assisted Crystal Palace‘s only goal of the 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest.

The 25-year-old found Jean-Philippe Mateta before the Frenchman absolutely smashed it into the top corner.

Others were impressive such as Jefferson Lerma and Daniel Munoz with the latter continuing to be a fan favourite.

But former England international Lee Hendrie was impressed by someone else and raved about him during the game.

Here’s what he said…

Lee Hendrie was blown away by Crystal Palace ace Adam Wharton

Adam Wharton was another to impress, being solid in the middle of the park.

While Lerma may have grabbed the headlines, Wharton was once again very good and continues to prove he was ready for the move.

Wharton was praised during the game by former Aston Villa and England midfielder, Lee Hendrie, who was on commentary for USA.

He said: “Keep an eye on this boy because he has got talent.”

Following this he remarked on how well Wharton did to make the jump from Championship to Premier League so seamlessly.

Palace have a real talent on their hands, and he’s only going to get better. But just how good was he against Forest? Let’s find out.

How did Adam Wharton play vs Nottingham Forest?

While being the youngest Palace player on the pitch, Wharton was impressive and is getting better all the time.

His stats against Forest show he still has a long way to go, but is doing really well. Here are his stats, as per FotMob.

  • 80 minutes
  • 81 per cent pass accuracy
  • 43 touches
  • 25 passes
  • 2 chances created
  • 1 clearance
  • 6 recoveries
  • 3 defensive actions
  • 4 duels won

Wharton is nowhere near his full potential yet, but there are definitely reasons to be confident that he will reach that level.

He will continue to start for Oliver Glasner and he deserves to.

We can’t wait to see where he ends up and just how good he can get in his career.
