Paul Merson has shared his prediction for Manchester City’s upcoming Premier League match against Arsenal.

Following the latest international break, the Citizens are back in action on home turf tomorrow with a big clash against Premier League leaders Arsenal.

With both sides once again fighting it out to be crowned the champions of England, this game could have a big impact on the title race.

Looking ahead to this big game, one pundit has weighed in with his prediction for how he thinks this match could pan out.

In his latest column for Sportskeeda where he previewed and predicted the results for this weekend’s Premier League fixtures, Merson had this to say about City’s big showdown against Arsenal.

He said: “This is the match of the weekend. The goal difference between the two sides is massive right now. If Arsenal win this game, they go four points clear of City and with that goal difference, it could prove to be decisive in the title race.

“Both teams are evenly matched at the moment, however, and we could see a draw in this match. Prediction: Manchester City 1-1 Arsenal.”

The previous meeting bwtween the two sides saw the Gunners pick up a 1-0 victory thanks to a defelcted goal from Gabriel Martinelli at the Emirates Stadium back in October.

As things stand, the north London club are currently one point ahead of Pep Guardiola’s side, who did the double over them last season as they went on to win their latest Premier League title.

Even though Mikel Arteta’s team have scored more goals and conceded fewer than the Blues this season, the fact that City haven’t lost a league game at home in this campaign could be why Merson thinks a draw could be on the cards for tomorrow’s game.

Bearing in mind how Liverpool are also in the title race and are on the same number of points as the Gunners prior to their match against Brighton & Hove Albion, we feel that a draw at the Etihad wouldn’t be an ideal result for either side.

Therefore, it’d be safe to assume that both City and Arsenal will be aiming to pick up all three points, which could make for a very intriguing and entertaining game of football.
