Sven Botman left speechless at what Newcastle teammate did vs West Ham

Newcastle United fought through so many problems to beat West Ham on Saturday.

Eddie Howe’s side lost yet more players to injury and continued to display huge defensive weaknesses at St James’ Park but, somehow, found a way to win what was a Premier League classic.

Alexander Isak’s ice-cold veins from the penalty spot should be celebrated, as well as the industrious excellence of Anthony Gordon.

Still, one man stood out.

Indeed, Harvey Barnes has not been able to truly shine as a Newcastle player thus far after a succession of injuries – the worst of which the club’s medical staff had not seen in football before.

Saturday, then, could prove to be where he kickstarted his career on Tyneside.

The £39m winger scored two goals, including a fantastic late winner, and was duly serenaded by supporters when conducting his post-match interview.

Howe was of course effusive in his praise of the winger, as was a stricken Newcastle teammate.

Sven Botman hails Harvey Barnes after Newcastle’s dramatic win

Sven Botman is another of Howe’s squad who understands what it’s like to suffer with injuries.

The Dutchman avoided having surgery on a knee problem earlier this season but was then struck down with a similar issue during the FA Cup defeat to Manchester City before the international break.

In one of his first public messages since the injury, Botman responded to Barnes’ celebratory Instagram post with two speechless emojis.

Harvey Barnes is proof Newcastle have reason to believe going forward

At times it felt as if we’d never see Barnes thriving, such was the extent of his injury lay-off.

However, he more than proved on Saturday that there is quality in Howe’s squad waiting to emerge once this most difficult of injury nightmares finally subsides.

Hopefully, Botman can have a similar impact upon his return.
