Report: Crystal Palace to rival two Premier League sides for £37m signing this summer

Crystal Palace will now have to battle two Premier League rivals for the signature of a top target this summer.

This summer could see something of an overhaul at Crystal Palace with some of the squad simply not compatible with Oliver Glasner‘s ideas.

The squad has some real weaknesses already, but with big sales, there could be further weak spots which need to be strengthened.

One position will be centre-back should Marc Guehi be sold, while if Eberechi Eze or Michael Olise are to leave, they need to be replaced with quality.

Now, one top target for this summer is said to be attracting further Premier League interest which could threaten Palace’s chances.

Here’s what we know…

Who are the two teams Crystal Palace will need to beat for key signing?

For Palace, Matias Soule has long been at the forefront of transfer discussions.

The talented Argentine seems to be the ideal Olise replacement for Dougie Freedman as he’s been linked for the majority of this season.

Now, it’s emerged that Palace won’t have a free run at Soule, with two Premier League clubs also showing interest.

According to TuttoSport, both Newcastle and Brentford are also keen on the Juventus loanee after his spectacular season with Frosinone.

With a price tag of £37m, Juventus will welcome all the interest they can get as it’ll only grow the price tag, and deepen their pockets.

How does Soule compare to Olise?

If Palace are looking to replace Olise this summer, Soule is probably the best possible option as he’s a special talent.

This season, Soule has shown his ability is no longer just potential but he’s the real deal and it’s this impressive form which has led to heavy interest in him.

His stats this season tell that story, as per FotMob.

  • 27 games
  • 10 goals
  • 2 assists
  • 61 chances created
  • 84 successful dribbles

These stats are impressive and at 20, he still has levels to improve. By comparison, Olise has been unstoppable this season, as per FotMob.

  • 11 games
  • 6 goals
  • 3 assists
  • 22 chances created
  • 27 successful dribbles

The impact of Olise would be tough for even a world-class winger to replicate, but Soule is probably most likely.
