West Ham player should be embarrassed by his awful display v Newcastle, now he has no leverage

Newcastle United beat West Ham United 4-3 yesterday, after an awful performance in the final 20 minutes.

One West Ham player was particularly bad up at St James’ Park against Newcastle in the Premier League, and he put in a stinking performance.

David Moyes made defensive changes with 20 minutes remaining whilst Eddie Howe did the opposite, and club captain Kurt Zouma admitted that Newcastle’s subs changed the game.

Having led the game 3-1 up until the 77th minute, the 4-3 defeat was an extremely bitter pill to swallow for the Hammers.

Moyes has to take responsibility for the results after his pathetic substitutions, but we have to mention the appalling refereeing performance as well.

It was clear from the kick-off that Rob Jones wanted to be centre of attention in every decision that he made.

Time after time he got really big calls wrong, and his display definitely affected the result in the end as far as I’m concerned.

However, one of our starting XI didn’t produce the goods at all, and he certainly played a role in our 4-3 defeat as well…

West Ham player should be embarrassed by awful performance vs Newcastle

I’m still struggling to accept the fact that we lost yesterday! We looked so comfortable for two thirds of the game, and were a constant threat on the counter attack.

The Newcastle players were dead on their feet and were dropping like flies, yet Moyes handed them the impetus to go on and win the game by adding Kalvin Phillips to the equation.

It was three points dropped, and now finishing inside the top seven will be an incredibly hard task for West Ham.

There were some very impressive performances on the day from certain players. However, one player let us down badly…

Vladimir Coufal put in a dreadful display at St James’ Park against the Toon yesterday afternoon.

He has been in the news recently after rejecting a new contract offer from the Hammers and demanding more money from the club.

His performance yesterday won’t do him any favours whatsoever in regards to that.

The 31-year-old gave away a penalty inside the first few minutes of the game after a terribly clumsy challenge on Anthony Gordon.

After that really poor decision to lunge in, the Czech Republic international was terrorised by Gordon throughout the entirety of the match.

Coufal made zero tackles, interceptions or blocks, and he completed just 69% of the 29 passes that he attempted (Who Scored). Those numbers tell their own story really don’t they.

His performance for West Ham against Newcastle was truly awful yesterday, and now he has zero leverage when it comes to negotiating a new contract.
