'Been fantastic': Chris Wood loves playing alongside £25m Nottingham Forest player

Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood has lauded his teammate after scoring his 11th goal of the season against Crystal Palace. The Reds came from behind against the Eagles to climb out of the relegation zone at the first time of asking.

Wood has been a revelation during the 2023/24 campaign for Forest. He’s found some goalscoring form and right now, he’s justifying the £15 million that the Reds paid for him.

His goal against Palace was simply outstanding. With his back to goal, he managed to flick a deft header over the top of Dean Henderson and manage to loop it under the crossbar.

After his quality goal, Wood raved about one of his teammates and he believes there is one star in the Forest changing room who he is building a rapport with.

Wood raves about Nottingham Forest teammate

Well, it would appear as though Wood is really enjoying playing alongside Morgan Gibbs-White. The pair linked up again against Palace after doing the same last time out at Luton.

Wood thrives on service and Gibbs-White is the most creative spark in the Forest squad. When the pair are on the pitch in tandem, there is always a chance that the Reds will score and that’s what happened yesterday.

After the game, Wood was quizzed on his relationship with the £25 million Gibbs-White in the Forest team. The 32-year-old is happy to be playing alongside the youngster and thinks they have a quality understanding.

He toldBBC Radio Nottingham: “Morgan has been fantastic for me over the last few weeks definitely. We seem to have a little sixth sense to keep finding each other so it’s nice and it’s a great ball and I was just trying to get it over the top of Dean (Henderson).”

Wood has been surprise package this season

It’s been a brilliant campaign for the international striker. He’s stepped into the breach when Taiwo Awoniyi has been injured and the goals he’s scored have been extremely vital.

Good strikers rely on service and with Gibbs-White in the team, Wood will always have that when he gets the nod to play for Forest.

The pair have linked up on three occasions this season to register goals for Forest. Indeed, the last two games have shown that Gibbs-White is extremely good for Wood.

Forest desperately need a win from somewhere and face a tough game with Fulham on Tuesday. After that, the Reds go to Tottenham and points are needed to fight for survival.

With Wood and Gibbs-White on the same page, however, it will bode well. Hopefully, the striker can push towards the 20-goal mark now and the 24-year-old can help him achieve that milestone.
