Declan Rice shares if he actually thinks Arsenal are just as good as Man City now

Declan Rice has now revealed whether thinks Arsenal are as brilliant a team as Manchester City.

Many might scoff at the question of the Gunners being on City’s level, considering they won the treble last season while having beaten Mikel Arteta’s side to the Premier League title.

Some may argue that even some of Arsenal’s best sides under Arsene Wenger are inferior to Pep Guardiola’s finest teams at Manchester City.

So far this season, the North London side have been the best team in the country and the league table does not lie.

However, such was the case for a majority of the previous campaign before City swooped in and got over the finish line, which is perhaps why some may consider such claims premature.

In addition, which out of the two teams is genuinely superior will be for all to see during Sunday’s showdown.

But Declan Rice firmly believes this Arsenal team are on the same level as Manchester City.

“We are not inferior to them at all. We are Arsenal, they are City. We have got some unbelievable players, they have got some unbelievable players”, he said in an interview with The Telegraph.

The Manchester City players should use such comments to spur them on

Especially with Arsenal set to travel to the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City, Declan Rice is unsurprisingly backing his team’s corner.

One would expect City’s players to perhaps do the same, even if they were playing a potentially superior opponent.

At the end of the day, one does not expect the Sky Blues players to be bothered by Rice’s pre-match comments.

However, perhaps Manchester City should use such comments as a motivational tool to emphasise the gulf in class between both teams by putting in a statement display.

In sports, one of the ways in which elite teams tend to keep the fire within themselves alive is by discovering new methods to push themselves.

Declan Rice’s comments, especially when looking at how the ongoing season has gone are fair.

But City could trick themselves by thinking that is not the case and consider his statement as a potential challenge to their throne and go on to showcase why no team in the country can be mentioned in the same breath as them.
