'The Guardiola factor': £25m player would rather sign for Man City than Liverpool right now - journalist

Manchester City and Liverpool are two of the biggest clubs in the world right now and both have a lot to offer potential signings.

With City, you have the more or less guarantee of winning trophies under Pep Guardiola. Their success has been huge and with the money available, a favourable contract will be on offer.

Over at Liverpool, the Jurgen Klopp factor has played a big part in Liverpool signing players over the years. The German is now leaving, meaning FSG will be relying on their recruitment model.

Of course, having the choice over both clubs only comes about for certain players at the very top of their game.

And according to journalist Dean Jones, one of Bayern Munich’s top stars could find himself with this decision this summer.

£25m midfielder fancies Manchester City over Liverpool

We had a similar situation last year when Jude Bellingham was on the market. Both City and Liverpool were keen.

In the end, Bellingham opted for Real Madrid and he’s been flying ever since.

But this summer, another top midfielder, Joshua Kimmich could also end up deciding between the two clubs.

And speaking to GiveMeSport, Dean Jones has said that as it stands, Kimmich would lean towards a move to Manchester.

“If it was to come down to a straight pick for Kimmich between Liverpool and Manchester City, he would be expected to go to the Etihad Stadium, in my opinion. The Pep Guardiola factor would be huge, and he has adaptable strengths that would fit well with the way that team changes and sets up,” Jones said.

“With Liverpool, you don’t really know how he would fit in yet because they are about to change manager, and it is not totally clear which position he would be expected to play. I also have a feeling that he has had Manchester City in his head for a while now. Their interest is well established, and he knows that.”

Joshua Kimmich a game changing signing

Whoever manages to sign Joshua Kimmich is getting a top player.

Pep Guardiola has already spoken of his love for the player in the past while Manchester United are also apparently keen on landing the German.

Indeed, as many as five clubs are keen on Kimmich, with Liverpool and Arsenal also among the clubs wanting the German.

Lauded by Julian Nagelsmann as ‘world-class’, Kimmich would bring quality to whoever he joins.

And if it is City he moves to, then the rest of the Premier League will be seriously worried.
