Glasner must fix concerning Crystal Palace stat that's hard to ignore, it’s almost been a year - Our View

Crystal Palace have endured a difficult season in the Premier League, with one seriously concerning statistic telling the story of what Oliver Glasner must immediately improve at Selhurst Park.

Yesterday afternoon saw usual service resume for Crystal Palace after the international break, and not in a good way.

The Eagles once again dropped points from a winning position in the Premier League, drawing 1-1 with Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

Oliver Glasner will have to wait even longer to record his second win in charge of the club, as his side failed to confirm three points in the Midlands.

Just like the fixture against Luton Town before the break, Palace took the lead through Jean-Philippe Mateta, all for their hard work to be thrown away in the second half, with Chris Wood on this occasion, levelling the score.

While a draw wasn’t the worst result in the world considering how hard Forest pushed for points as they stare relegation in the face, the scoreline only reinforced just how lacklustre things are at Palace.

The horrendous statistic that Oliver Glasner must fix at Crystal Palace

From managerial changes to injury, Palace have struggled to assert themselves this season, which is a story told by their statistics.

A lot has been said about the Eagles’ inability to hold leads, which was an issue that resurfaced against Forest as they recorded the 20th point that they had dropped from a winning position this season.

That’s not the only alarming statistic that is looming over Selhurst, with one showing just how inconsistent the squad has been over the past year.

It’s been almost a year since Palace recorded a winning streak longer than one game in the Premier League, with the 15th April 2023 representing the final win of the squad’s last three-game winning streak in the top flight.

Since then, the Eagles have recorded a winning streak of just one game, making for alarming reading for Glasner, who is now the man responsible for turning things around quickly.

Oliver Glasner must turn Crystal Palace’s record around before May

This season, Palace have failed to record consecutive wins, telling of the inconsistencies around the squad at the moment.

Despite only taking charge last month, Glasner must address his side’s inability to firstly remain in control when in a winning position to bolster their form.

In three of his four Premier League games in charge, the Austrian has watched his side throw leads away, losing against Spurs after leading and seeing their advantage over Luton and Forest discarded to end in a draw.

It’s evident that Glasner has already made positive changes to the style of play that the Eagles present however, it’s pivotal that the boss now cracks down on the squad’s ability to see out games.

With nine games remaining in the Premier League, it’s imperative that the manager guides his side to end the abysmal record of failing to build form, with the prospect of ending the season without cementing back-to-back league wins very much a possibility.
