'I certainly would have': Pundit says he'd have absolutely loved to work with £378k-a-week man at Man City

Danny Murphy has claimed that he would have loved to work with one particular figure at Manchester City.

Ex-players perhaps look at this City team and salivate over the prospect of being in this side.

WhileLiverpool have also won trophies galore during Jurgen Klopp’s era, it seems like being a part of this Sky Blues side is the closest thing to virtually guaranteeing winning silverware, which would appeal to retired players.

Apart from that, playing in this Manchester City side also gives ex-footballers a chance to play a playing style that was simply not prevalent during the Premier League.

Danny Murphy says he would love to have played under Pep Guardiola

Sharing a dressing room with serial winners like Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Kyle Walker is also a pleasure for any player from any era.

Not many dressing rooms are like City’s, who have a single-minded goal of winning at all times, with Rodri claiming that their relentless winning streaks come down to Guardiola’s influence.

Speaking of Pep Guardiola, Danny Murphy told the Daily Mail during an interview that he would have loved to work with him.

“Most players would loved to have worked under [Pep] Guardiola. I certainly would have done”, he said.

“Even as a young player, I enjoyed the tactical side of the game and regularly had questions for my coaches like Steve Holland to learn more. I also responded to managers who would give me a kick up the backside and Pep seems to be that type rather than a pat-on-the-back type of guy!”

“He demands the best and the consistency he gets from his players over months and years is an unbelievable skill.”

Danny Murphy is unlikely to be the only ex-player who wishes he had the honour of being coached by Pep Guardiola.

These Manchester City players can consider themselves lucky that they were managed by Pep Guardiola

While Manchester City’s players must have plenty of pressure on their shoulders to adhere to Guardiola’s high standards, they should also view it as a privilege to be managed by him.

Former players like Danny Murphy wish they were in their position and worked closely with Pep Guardiola on a daily basis.

In essence, the City cohort is working with arguably the Lionel Messi of managers.

Such is the calibre of the £378,846-a-week man’s greatness and as a result, they should embrace this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity as it is almost guaranteed that his replacement will be a downgrade.

Learn as much as possible from the great man, as one could say about Manchester United’s players during the Sir Alex Ferguson era.
