Marsha Blackburn 'incensed' over Dem plan to 'table' DHS secretary's impeachment

Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN)

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) said Sunday that Americans should be "incensed" over a Democratic plan to table the impeachment of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas in the Senate.

During an interview on Fox News, guest host Jason Chaffetz asked Blackburn about Speaker Mike Johnson's (R-LA) intentions to send Mayorkas' impeachment articles to the Senate for a trial.

"Yes, and on Wednesday, we expect them to come to us," Blackburn explained. "We will receive the articles. We will be sworn in. Each senator is sworn in into the court of impeachment."

"We should move forward at that point with the impeachment trial or a committee of impeachment," she continued. "But what we're hearing is for the first time ever in our nation's history, Chuck Schumer is wanting to table the impeachment articles.

"Every American should be incensed by this."

Blackburn accused the secretary of "doing Joe Biden's bidding."

"He should stand for his impeachment trial as instructed by the Constitution of the United States," she concluded.

Just years earlier, Republicans in the Senate effectively tabled the nomination of Merrick Garland for Supreme Court justice. There is no record of Blackburn expressing outrage at that time.
