‘Terrible’: Gary Neville left unimpressed £30m Arsenal player’s passing vs Man City today

Gary Neville was left unimpressed with one Arsenal player’s attempts to play out from the back against Manchester City today.

Arsenal made a sluggish start to their huge clash at the Etihad Stadium today as Pep Guardiola’s men dominated the early exchanges.

The Gunners warmed to the task though and Gabriel Jesus had a couple of opportunities to test Stefan Ortega in the first half.

Yet, Arsenal were struggling to build from the back in the opening period as City pressed relentlessly.

It led to Mikel Arteta’s men going long and David Raya failed to find his man on a few occasions in the opening 45 minutes.

And after yet another wayward kick from the Spaniard in the 39th minute, Neville criticised the Arsenal shot-stopper.

Neville unimpressed with Raya’s passing

Speaking on Sky Sports’ coverage of the game, Neville reacted after Raya’s misplaced kick fell straight to Rico Lewis.

“Raya’s kicking these last few minutes has been terrible,” the Manchester United legend said.

“It’s not helping that he keeps falling over as he kicks it.”

While Raya and Arsenal certainly struggled to play out during the first half, they enjoyed a bright start to the second period and the £30 million goalkeeper’s distribution improved.

Arteta’s men pressed with more intent and started to play their game more often as they played out from the back.

Man City vs Arsenal

It’s fair to say that it was a relatively uneventful 90 minutes of action at the Etihad Stadium.

Both teams struggled to create opportunities in the final third in what turned out to be a cagey game.

While City dominated the ball for large periods of the game, Arsenal arguably took up better positions in the final third.

Indeed, Leandro Trossard was set away in the 85th minute but failed to notice Gabriel Martinelli’s run at the back post.

In the end, both teams were forced to settle for a point, which means Liverpool lead the way at the top of the table once again.
