'I think' – Man Utd man snubs Kylian Mbappe as he names best player he ever played against, there's one clear winner

Manchester United midfielder Sofyan Amrabat snubbed Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe after he named the best player he ever played against in his career.

Sofyan Amrabat arrived at Old Trafford on deadline day in 2023 from Serie A side Fiorentina and was reunited with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag.

The 27-year-old Morocco midfielder, who played under Erik ten Hag at Dutch club Utrecht, was signed as part of a season-long loan deal last summer.

United paid Fiorentina £8.6m for the initial loan and are able to make the move permanent in a deal worth £17m plus £4.5m in add-ons.

Despite impressing early on in his loan spell, Amrabat’s influence at Old Trafford has waned and Fiorentina loanee has made sporadic appearances for the Red Devils.

The United player has managed only 14 Premier League appearances, with only seven of those coming as starts under Red Devils boss Ten Hag.

It appears increasingly unlikely that Amrabat’s move to Old Trafford would be made permanent, with the Fiorentina loanee attracting interest from other clubs.

Man Utd star Amrabat snubs Mbappe

Sofyan Amrabat impressed during Morocco’s sensational run in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, with the Manchester United player making a big impression on fans.

The Morocco international caught the limelight after fans raved about a tackle that he produced on France star Kylian Mbappe in the semi-finals of the World Cup.

Despite coming up against Mbappe on the international stage, Amrabat revealed that the PSG forward was not the best player he ever faced on the pitch.

Speaking in a fan Q&A, the Morocco midfielder insisted that Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo was the best player he played against in his career.

“I think Cristiano Ronaldo. I’d say Cristiano Ronaldo,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.

Amrabat on Mbappe and that tackle

Morocco’s fairytale run at the 2022 World Cup came to an end in the semi-finals, with France securing a 2-0 win and subsequently facing Argentina in the final.

Amrabat went viral for his run and challenge on Mbappe, with the United player admitting it was a “nice moment” when he saw the reception he received.

“Yeah, during the game, not too much because you are focused and you are concentrated on the game and you are, at the moment, 1-0 down,” he said.

“So, we tried everything to make a goal or to try to come back in the game. But, later on, when I saw all the people talking and speaking about it, of course, it was a nice moment.

“But, at the end of the day, the most important thing is the team and we were so near to the final. So, then you want to play the final.

“Like I said, at the end of the day, it’s the team that is the most important.”
