Liverpool secured all three points to go to the top of the Premier League table on Sunday afternoon with a 2-1 win over Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton – and Luis Garcia was impressed with two players.
With Manchester City facing Arsenal later in the day, Jurgen Klopp’s men knew a win over Brighton could send them to the top of the league. So it turned out – with City and Arsenal only managing a 0-0 draw.
However, it looked as though it might not go to plan for Klopp’s side initially. Danny Welbeck slammed home an opener in the first few minutes. But, the Reds responded and eventually went on to win 2-1.
Mac Allister and Endo forming unlikely Liverpool partnership
Luis Diaz, who was excellent, equalised before Mo Salah – as dependable as ever – put Liverpool 2-1 up and the scoreline remained the same. De Zerbi praised Alexis Mac Allister for his assist, for the second.
Another crucial three points for Liverpool, to keep them plugging away in the race for the Premier League title. Luis Garcia took to Twitter after the game to praise two players, both in the Liverpool midfield.
He claims that Wataru Endo, a £16m signing last summer, is getting the best out of Argentina World Cup winner Mac Allister – who Garcia says, is becoming the “centre of everything” for Liverpool right now.
Endo has been the signing of the season for Liverpool
For just £16m, despite his age, Endo is proving to be one of the buys of the season. He is everywhere, constantly breaking up play, lung-busting stamina and energy – and then feeding the likes of Mac Allister.
A self-awareness that he does not have the technical ability of Mac Allister or Dominik Szoboszlai – but is aware that he has the guile to win the ball back and feed them, proving to be selfless for Liverpool’s side.
An unlikely hero, but if Liverpool do go on to win the League title, Endo – aptly named after replacing captain Jordan Henderson, or Hendo – will be crucial. Takumi Minamino says he’s better than Park Ji-sung.
