What Sergio Reguilon was spotted with leaving Brentford's stadium will play on the heartstrings of Man Utd fans

Manchester United had a weekend to forget, as they put in a shocker of a performance against Brentford in the Premier League.

Alas – Erik ten Hag‘s side still came out with a point. A 96th-minute Mason Mount strike looked destined to be the difference at the Gtech Community Stadium on the night – that was until Kristoffer Ajer replied just three minutes later with an equaliser.

In all honesty – United were beyond lucky to even walk away with a point. It was a performance to put behind them, and hopefully learn from heading into a seriously tough run of fixtures.

However, it also showed that the Manchester United first-team squad is also still severely lacking in depth. They should have kept a player who is now at Brentford – Sergio Reguilon.

Sergio Reguilon still one of the mistakes this season

Manchester United decided it would be best to part ways with Reguilon in the January transfer window, with the left-back being sent back to Spurs after his season-long loan was terminated early.

It turns out Reguilon’s move back was a ‘club decision‘, not Ten Hag‘s – which is entirely baffling.

Reguilon then was shipped off to Brentford until the end of the season from Tottenham, evidently not needed around Hotspur Way.

Manchester United have been forced to play unorthodox left-backs for some time now, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka taking on the role against the Bees, and having a bit of a disaster.

Reguilon would’ve been handy to keep within the ranks and certainly would have got minutes. He also showed an immense love for the Red Devils despite his short stint in Manchester.

Although he did not play through suspension – Reguilon attended the fixture against his former side. What he was seen with at full-time will play on the heartstrings of a few fans.

What Sergio Reguilon was spotted with at full-time vs Brentford

Reguilon departed the Gtech after the fixture with his girlfriend, but also had his hands full of Manchester United goodies.

This included Alejandro Garnacho‘s match-worn shirt, among other Red Devils gear, all encased in one of the Manchester United megastore bags.

He really does love United. What a shame his time at Old Trafford was ended so abruptly. Did it end too early? Potentially. Reguilon probably didn’t show all he was capable of.

The fact he seems to care this much about a side he didn’t even spend six months with indicates he may have deserved until the end of the season at the very least.

As we know, this wasn’t the case. Somewhat gutting for the Spaniard.
