Powerball tickets worth $50K each sold in 3 N.J. stores

Three $50,000 third-prize lottery tickets were bought in New Jersey for Saturday’s Powerball drawing.

The lucky, third-prize tickets each matched four numbers plus the Powerball. They were purchased at:

  • Essex County: Lucky 7 Food Mart on Centre Street in Nutley
  • Burlington County: ShopRite on Ark Road in Mount Laurel
  • Union County: E & R Deli & Grocery on Maple Avenue in Hillside

Saturday’s winning numbers were: 12, 13, 33, 50 and 52. The Powerball drawn was 23 with a Power Play of 3x.

No one across the country hit Saturday’s $951 million jackpot though second-prize $1 million tickets were sold in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Louisiana and Illinois. Each matched five numbers but not the Powerball.

Monday’s drawing is worth an estimated $1 billion with a cash option of $483.8 million and is potentially the 11th largest in U.S. lottery history.

The drawing will be held at 10:59 p.m. and televised on WABC-7 in the New York City area and Fox 29 in the Philadelphia area. NJ.com will publish the winning numbers immediately following the drawing.

No one has hit the Powerball jackpot since a lottery player in Michigan won the $842.4 million jackpot on New Year’s Day.

The odds of hitting the Powerball jackpot are 292,201,388 to 1. A player who buys a $2 ticket has about a 1 in 11,688,053 chance to match five numbers and win at least $1 million, while the odds are 913,129 to 1 to win a third prize of at least $50,000.

Powerball drawings are held each Monday, Wednesday and Saturday in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
