TalkSPORT pundit shares bold claim over Harry Kane’s future after Bayern Munich’s latest defeat

TalkSPORT pundit Andy Townsend has been left stunned by what he has seen involving Harry Kane at Bayern Munich.

The England captain saw his hopes of lifting the Bundesliga title all but crushed on the weekend.

It has been a torrid season for Bayern in the league with Bayer Leverkusen running away at the top of the table with a 13 point cushion now.

What was supposed to be a move to finally end his search for silverware is now turning out to be a bit of a nightmare for Harry Kane.

What Andy Townsend said about Harry Kane

The 30-year-old striker has had a seriously impressive individual season for Bayern having returned 37 goals and 12 assists in 36 games.

However, he was unable to find the back of the net in their home game on the weekend against Borussia Dortmund.

And the defeat has seen any slim chance of making a stunning title turnaround come to a realistic end.

All hopes now rest on the Champions League when Bayern take on Kane’s old rivals in Arsenal at the quarter finals stage.

But with this move to Munich not quite providing the return of medals many would have expected, Townsend thinks Kane will be considering a potential move back to England.

He said on TalkSPORT: “Well, it must have crossed his mind. There is no question it must have crossed his mind. I personally think that whoever they appoint at Bayern, there’s going to be a massive change there in the summer. And I would have thought that next season again they will probably start as favourites to get the Bundesliga title back and Harry will stay for another year.

“But it must have, Jeff, it will undoubtedly have crossed his mind because he probably can’t believe what’s going on around him at the moment. He really can’t.”

“So he would most certainly be thinking about it. If he has a big Euros for England, and decides, ‘do you know what I have had enough I’m going to come back’. I think there will be plenty that will take him.”

Do Spurs hold a buy-back clause for Harry Kane?

Going into the summer, The Spurs News have been informed that the club would think about selling Richarlison.

Spurs have already been linked with a host of potential striker targets ahead of the summer with Ivan Toney being one of them.

So the feeling coming out of Hotspur Way ahead of the summer transfer window is that a new striker could potentially come through the doors.

But could it be a familiar face returning to Spurs in Kane?

Well, Fabrizio Romano has recently shed some light on Tottenham’s situation with their record goalscorer who only left last summer.

He said: “I think in regard to a buy-back clause, what I’m hearing is it’s kind of more of a gentleman’s agreement between clubs.

“So if they decide to sell Harry Kane in the future, Tottenham will be made aware of their decision. So this is the kind of discussion that took place between Bayern and Tottenham.”

Even if Kane was to seek an exit, it has to be questioned whether Spurs would be willing to pay a huge sum of money needed to bring him back.

Of course, Spurs would likely welcome Kane back with open arms having failed to replace him since he left in the summer.

However, there has been interest from the likes of Manchester United who, under new ownership, would likely be able to offer Bayern a much bigger transfer fee than Spurs.
