'Convicted felon by June': Ex-prosecutor predicts Trump will lose hush money trial

Former President Donald Trump has managed to get most of his criminal trials stalled or delayed in various ways, leaving it in doubt whether some of them can be held before the November election altogether.

But there is one slated to come to trial this month, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's hush money case, and former prosecutor Glenn Kirschner predicts it will end with the historic conviction of a former U.S. president.

"It seems [Trump]’s run out of rope," Kirschner wrote in a new post on X. "Given the strength of the evidence against him, he should be a convicted felon by June 1st."

Kirschner argues in his video post that Trump's attempts to delay the case, in which the former president pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records, will fail in his efforts to delay the case, or to win it.

"There's nothing left to appeal," said Kirschner. "There is no issue that he can now appeal that would cause an appellate court to pause the trial date."

Kirschner backed up his beliefs that Trump's delay tactics are doomed by looking at the judge overseeing the case.

"We have a legitimate judge," said Kirschner. "Judge Juan Merchan [is] a judge determined to get the case to trial and to see that justice is done."

Kirschner then pointed to an "under the radar" element of a recent court filing from Trump's attorneys to explain his third reason for believing delay tactics will fail.

"The third reason is because of what Donald Trump's lawyers just filed, that kind of flew under the radar. 'The dates that we proposed to the court' — meaning Judge Cannon in the Florida case — 'particularly in late May and early June 2024 are no longer workable for defendant Trump.'"

"So, friends, this notice is another important data point, reinforcing the conclusion that Trump's first criminal trial will begin on April 15th," Kirschner concluded.
