‘Certainly has been’: Ange Postecoglou now suggests £15m Tottenham player has impressed him in training lately

Ange Postecoglou has suggested that one Tottenham Hotspur player has impressed him in training recently.

Tottenham face a tricky test at West Ham this evening and will be aiming to build on a 2-1 victory over Luton Town on Saturday.

While Spurs weren’t exactly at their free-flowing best over the weekend, they created enough chances to win the game comfortably.

Instead, Ange Postecoglou’s side left it late once again as Heung-min Son popped up with a crucial winner.

Despite picking up a win, Postecoglou will have a few decisions to make when it comes to his starting XI given the quick turnaround.

The Aussie has struggled to find the right balance in midfield recently, with Yves Bissouma struggling to rediscover his early-season form.

One man who is eager to get more minutes over Bissouma is Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who admitted during the international break he isn’t happy with his playing time at the moment.

Now, Postecoglou has responded to the Dane’s comments and suggested that he can understand his frustrations.

Postecoglou says Hojbjerg has impressed him in training

Speaking to the media ahead of tonight’s trip to West Ham, Postecoglou was asked about Hojbjerg’s recent comments.

“No, he’s doing all he can,” Postecoglou told Football.London. “He mentioned he is training well and he’s not happy he hasn’t played enough. I understand that.

“There are probably other players in there who are equally as unhappy that they haven’t been playing. That’s OK. I understand that, they’re human beings.

“What I look at is how are they training, what their attitude is like and when presented with their opportunity are they ready to contribute? Pierre certainly has been, but there are others in that boat as well.”

Hojbjerg could get his opportunity for Tottenham at West Ham

It’s fair to say that Bissouma hasn’t been at his best of late and Postecoglou may be tempted to switch things up in midfield.

The Mali international could have done better for Luton’s opener on Saturday as Andros Townsend skipped past him far too easily moments before the goal.

As for Hojbjerg, the 28-year-old has impressed when coming off the bench this season.

But he’s managed just six starts in the league this season and has failed to take his opportunity each time when starting from the off.
