£45m Chelsea player named in Premier League Team of the Week despite embarrassing result vs Burnley

One Chelsea player has actually been named in the Premier League team of the week, despite not being on the winning side on Saturday.

This is according to WhoScored, who rank players based on statistical performances.

The Blues saw another opportunity to climb up the table go begging at the weekend, however, this one will likely hurt more than many of the others.

Twice they were ahead against a 10-man Burnley side, however they only left Stamford Bridge with a point.

Thebrilliance of Cole Palmer was not enough this time, despite the fact that he found the net twice, either side of half-time.

The England International made it 30 combined goals and assists for the season at the weekend, with him easily establishing himself as one of the best signings of the season after his £45m move.

Even manager Mauricio Pochettino admitted after the game that at times, his players would simply look for Palmer in an attempt to make things happen.

Palmer named in Premier League Team of the Week

This is perhaps shown by the recent team of the week, published by WhoScored, with Palmer actually coming in as the second highest rated player of the week.

Only Mohammed Kudus, a former Chelsea transfer target himself, picked up a higher rating for his performance in a 4-3 defeat to Newcastle United.

Palmer clearly cut a frustrated figure at full-time, however he like the rest of the players, does not have long to pick himself up before they are back in action again.

Mount returning to Chelsea

The Blues are back at Stamford Bridge to take on Manchester United on Thursday, where they could be about to welcome back a player who once was as popular as Palmer is now.

Mason Mount opened his account for the Red Devils at the weekend, and will surely be pushing for a place in the side in West London on Thursday.
