'Not more serious': Craig Hope has just delivered a double injury boost that Newcastle United fans will love

Newcastle United have received a lot of negative injury news in the past few weeks, so it is nice to hear something positive for a change.

The Magpies have been rocked by two ACL injuries, with both Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles potentially out for as long as nine months. It is a devastating blow, and one that could force the club to change its summer transfer plans.

Elsewhere, Newcastle lost Lewis Miley to a back injury. He sustained it during the international break whilst representing England Under-20s, and there were fears that it could mean his breakthrough season is ending early.

To make matters worse, there was a rumour that Nick Pope could be out for the rest of the campaign with the shoulder injury that he suffered back in December.

However, an update from the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope has suggested that the fears regarding Miley and Pope are misplaced.

Two injured Newcastle United players could return before the season ends

Hope has taken to X (formerly known as Twitter) to provide an injury update on Miley and Pope.

He wrote: “Lewis Miley has another scan this week but looks like bone bruising on back and not more serious. Could feature in final few games but won’t be rushed. Nick Pope on track to return before end of season & make late push for Euros.”

Positive news regarding Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope

The rumour about Pope being out for the rest of the season came from journalist Joel Bland.

Interestingly, Bland has now indicated that the information he was given appears to be wrong.

On what he had been told about Pope, he wrote on X: “This came from someone new. I should’ve checked in with a couple of people prior in hindsight but was messaged late last night – glad it looks like he’s still on for his scheduled return.”

The Pope rumour appears to have been debunked, which is great news. The 31-year-old is a massive player for the Magpies, and his absence has been a major issue over the past few months.

Eddie Howe recently indicated that the goalkeeper is due to return towards the end of April, and this positive update from Craig Hope suggests he is still on track to do just that.
