The statistic from Chelsea vs Burnley that says Mauricio Pochettino is making a huge error right now – opinion

Chelsea blew yet another chance to climb up the table towards the European places at the weekend with a draw against Burnley in the Premier League.

This particular meeting at Stamford Bridge will leave most more frustrated than ever though, with the Blues playing more than half of the game against 10 men.

Even though Cole Palmer was at his brilliant best with another brace, it was not enough to get all three points.

Mauricio Pochettino continued to operate a similar side to the one he has played for the majority of the campaign, however it exposed something which has proven to be a bit of a talking point for most of the season.

Gallagher struggling in the Number 10

The midfield under the Argentine has been built around Conor Gallagher, with him again starting in the number 10 role against Burnley.

This game in particular though exposed his attacking limitations, and a statistic posted by Mozo Football stated that he was struggling to advance the ball to the final third.

They stated that both Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile registered more attacking third passes than Gallagher, despite the fact that he was playing in a role that is tasked with supplying the attackers.

It feels as if a position change is in order for the England midfielder, and there is one clear candidate for the club that should play in that role going forwards.

Pochettino should start Mudryk in the Number 10

It was another strong outing for Mykhailo Mudryk, who very easily could have ended up with more than the one assist he left the game with.

He has actually been putting out his better performances recently in a more central role, where he has been allowed freedom to attack.

With the upcoming match against Manchester United, Pochettino should look to operate the Ukraine international there again, and potentially move Gallagher deeper into the midfield to utilise his strengths.
