The partnership between the Russian Federation and North Korea continues to thrive, with North Korea continuing its support, according to the Deputy Pentagon Spokesperson Sabrina Singh.
"We do assess that the partnership continues to flourish, that North Korea does continue to provide support to Russia. We've certainly had declassified intelligence read out to all of you. So we do believe that support continues but I don't have anything to share in terms of, like, recent shipments or anything like that," Singh said.
She also added that Russia continues to reach out to its partners, such as North Korea and Iran, for assistance in the war against Ukraine. At the same time, Singh said that the United States will stand with Kyiv as long as needed.
Russia vetoes sanctions against North Korea
As revealed by US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller, Russia has vetoed the extension of the UN Sanctions Committee mandate against North Korea, causing concern in Washington.
"This is a panel that has – whose work has previously been extended unanimously, and I think it’s clear what happened here is that Russia made a bargain with the DPRK in return for the DPRK arming it in its war against Ukraine. And now we’re seeing Russia deliver on its end of the bargain," he explained.
North Korea's assistance to Russia
According to data from the State Department, since September 2023, North Korea has supplied Russia with over 10,000 containers of ammunition or ammunition-related materials.
Back in February, Vadym Skibitskyi, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, said that North Korea had transferred 1.5 million artillery munitions to the Russian Federation.
