‘Work that one out?’: Pundit says Liverpool made a signing this summer that still baffles him

To say that Liverpool’s summer transfer business was transformative would be an understatement.

The Reds have been absolutely incredible this season after a poor campaign last time around, and the Merseyside club look as though they could be champions in waiting come May.

Liverpool’s transfer business in the summer was truly exceptional, and speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty Show, Glenn Murray has stated that he’s still baffled by one signing the Reds made.

The Liverpool signing that has left Glenn Murray baffled

The pundit spoke about the signing of Alexis Mac Allister, and he says he can’t figure out how the Reds pulled this deal off for such a cheap fee.

“They lost Alexis Mac Allister and I think that’s some of the best business of the summer. £35m for him. He played alongside Enzo Fernandez, he went for £95m, he played with Moises Caicedo at Brighton, he went for £105m. Liverpool got him for £35m, work that one out? I’m not saying he’s better than them, but he’s just as good as them,” Murray said.

Alexis Mac Allister was a massive bargain

Alexis Mac Allister may well have been the signing of the summer.

The Argentine has been absolutely brilliant for Liverpool, and at £35m, he didn’t cost a lot either.

Mac Allister only cost so little due to the fact he had a release clause in his Brighton contract, and had that clause not been present, the Seagulls would’ve been well within their rights to ask for double that fee last summer.

Liverpool sniffed out a bargain and acted quickly here, and this signing may well go down as one of the best in the club’s history.

Mac Allister has been one of the signings of the summer, and who knows? Perhaps he could even help take the Reds to a Premier League title this season.
