'A lively display': Local media deliver verdict on Forest gem who should have scored yesterday

Nottingham Forest have several players out loan at the moment and being in the Premier League has allowed a number of EFL clubs to take advantage of young Reds players.

Forest have Lewis O’Brien and Emmanuel Dennis out on loan in the Championship with Middlesbrough and Watford respectively.

Josh Bowler is also in the second tier with Cardiff, whilst Loic Mbe Soh, Omar Richards, Joe Worrall, Scott McKenna and Jonathan Panzo are all abroad.

Hwang Ui-jo is another and he’s signed for Alanyaspor in Turkey for the remainder of the season.

One player out on loan who Forest definitely see as a first-team player in the future isBrandon Aguilera and yesterday he was in action for Bristol Rovers.

The 20-year-old played for an hour as the Gas drew 0-0 with Shrewsbury in League One. The Costa Rica international started for the first time since injuring his hamstring and he didn’t disappoint…

Forest gem Brandon Aguilera stars in League One draw

Well, it was a performance that caught the eye of the local media from the on-loan Forest midfielder – and he earned some rave reviews.

Aguilera was in action as a starter for the first time since injuring his hamstring back in February and it was claimed that he did well.

The local media appear to be impressed with the Costa Rica international and the regular game time will do him the world of good.

After yesterday’s game, Bristol Live scored him a 6/10 for his efforts, although he should have been among the goal contributions.

They said of his performance: “A lively display from the Nottingham Forest loanee on his return to the starting lineup as he looked to get Rovers on their way in the first half. On another day the 20-year-old could well have come away with a goal or an assist…or even both.”

Aguilera will star at the City Ground in the future

With AFCON and injuries rife at the City Ground earlier this season, Aguilera did earn a chance to impress Nuno Espirito Santo with a number of substitute appearances.

He never really disappointed either but the club still felt it was better served if the player went out on loan for the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign.

Bristol Rovers looks like the ideal club for Aguilera to prove himself to Forest. The Gas don’t have a lot to play for and he should get the run of games that he desperately craves.

At 20, Aguilera is a real bright talent and Forest will almost certainly give him a chance to shine at the club in the future.

He can play anywhere in the final third and he has the ability to unlock defences with his range of passing.

It’s great to hear that Aguilera was back in action yesterday and Forest will hope that he can now remain in the team for the remainder of the campaign.
