Report: Chelsea are more likely to try sign 'incredible' £100m player than Mikel Arteta or Ange Postecoglou

Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson are the only players in the current Chelsea squad to hit double digits for goals this season. So, will the Blues go out and try sign a seriously prolific No 9 in the summer?

Despite Nicolas Jackson’s return of 12 goals in all competitions so far this campaign, the youngster’s still got a lot of improving to do as a player. In fact, speaking via ESPN at the weekend, Steve Nicol explained why he thinks Jackson doesn’t suit playing as a central striker.

The Blues are linked in the transfer rumour mill with several different centre-forward profiles. Our wish is for the club’s next signing in the attacking position to be someone with a proven CV of scoring goals at the highest level, preferably in the Premier League.

Chelsea linked with £100m Premier League player

FootballTransfers claimed back in January that Newcastle United frontman Alexander Isak was a player in Chelsea’s sights.

Now, there’s fresh rumours this week regarding potential Blues interest in the 24-year-old Magpies striker.

SportsLens claims that Newcastle United have become ‘open-minded’ about the idea of selling Isak for financial reasons.

It is explained that it’s ‘highly unlikely’ Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal or Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham’s could afford Isak’s £100 million valuation.

The report adds that Chelsea may be ‘more likely’ to show interest in Newcastle’s star attacker if he really is attainable.

Described as a player who can achieve “incredible things” by Newcastle boss Eddie Howe (Beanyman Sports), Isak looks like the real deal to us.

Three reasons why Alexander Isak would be brilliant for Chelsea

First of all, Isak’s goal record in English football since arriving at St James’ Park in 2022 is a big reason why Chelsea should try to bring him to Stamford Bridge.

Yes, his injury record isn’t faultless. However, he’s scored 18 goals in 31 Newcastle appearances across all competitions this season.

Our second reason is that the Sweden international is a total footballer. On top of his goals, the Newcastle man knits play together superbly well and has great dribbling to go with his goal threat around the box.

A third reason is that Isak turns 25 in September, so he’s primed and ready now to be a real force in this Premier League.

We’ve seen Chelsea fall short with too many inexperienced players this year. Therefore, signing a proven No 9 with the right blend of youth and potential makes perfect sense.
