25-yo who criticised Moyes after 2022 West Ham exit has been a disaster for new club

David Moyes was heavily criticised by one player in particular after he left West Ham United two years ago.

West Ham boss David Moyes has made some great signings over the past few years, but there have been some really poor ones as well.

The Scot has done a fantastic job on the whole at the London Stadium since he returned to the club in December 2019, but there are murmurings that he could leave at the end of this season and be replaced by Graham Potter.

Moyes is a very good manager when it comes to stabilising clubs and then leading them on into the battle for the top six or seven.

However, I’m not convinced that he’s the man we need to take us on to the the next level. One of the things that really holds him back is his lack of ambition on the pitch, but some of the signings he has made really haven’t helped us either.

There was one player in particular who Moyes brought to the London Stadium who quite simply wasn’t good enough for us, and he’s experiencing real struggles with his new club as well…

One player left us just under two years ago after a really bad spell at the London Stadium.

He never settled at West Ham, and certainly wasn’t given regular game-time by Moyes.

And unfortunately for him, things haven’t got any better over the past 22 months or so.

Alex Kral joined the Hammers on loan from Sparta Prague in the summer of 2021, but he was nowhere near the level required for us. He played just one Premier League minute under Moyes and looked like a league two player for the most part.

Kral lashed out at the West Ham boss last year, by suggesting that he wasn’t given a fair chance to prove himself at the London Stadium.

However, I think Moyes got it spot on by letting him go. The Czech Republic international midfielder, 25, has experienced a really challenging campaign with Union Berlin this season.

He has failed to score a goal or register an assist in 21 Bundesliga games so far this term (Transfermarkt), and Get Football News Germany suggest that he has ‘failed to impress’ at the Stadion an der Alten Försterei.

Perhaps the most damning indictment of Kral’s failures at Union Berlin is the fact that they finished in fourth place in the Bundesliga table last season, but have dropped down to 12th this term with the 25-year-old amongst their ranks.

David Moyes clearly knew what he was doing by letting Kral leave West Ham in the summer of 2022. As much as the midfielder blamed the Scot, it’s clear to see that he just wasn’t good enough to be playing at the very highest level. His performances for Union Berlin this season prove that even further still.
